Level 1 Rapid Infuser Setup
Follow the numbered guides on the device for setup.
Setup Instructions
- Secure the bottom of the heat exchanger into block #1.
- Snap the heat exchanger into the guide and slide block #2 down to secure.
- Open the slot door for clamp #3 (pull down and away), insert the patient line, and close the latch to engage the metal tab.
- Press the gas vent/filter assembly into block #4.
- Close all clamps. Spike a fluid bag and remove any residual air. Hang the bags so the ports rest in the indented slots at the bottom.
- Prime the column to the midpoint, then prime the second bag and the rest of the line.
- Verify the air detector and over-temperature alarms if clinical conditions permit.
Safety Testing
For clinical completion, follow these safety steps:
- Alarm Test: Press the alarm test button (triangle). This will require cycling the power to clear the over-temperature alarm.
- Air Detector Test: Pressurize a bag and move the top of the gas vent assembly away from the sensor. An alarm should sound and fluid flow should stop.
Refer to the H-1200 Fluid Warmer User Manual for complete details.
Operation
Operating the rapid infuser requires continuous monitoring. Use the green button to start the infusion and the orange button to stop. Alternate between fluid bags and manage the pressurization of the chambers using the top latches.
Alarms
- Disposable Indicator: One of the blocks (#1, #2, or #4) is not correctly secured.
- Recirculating Solution Low: Refill the solution reservoir with sterile water.
- Over Temperature: Close all clamps, power the unit off, then power it back on.
- Air Detector: Check for loose connections or air in the chamber that requires flushing.
