Remimazolam Dosing

  1. Remimazolam is a short-acting benzodiazepine with an ester structure, resulting in organ-independent metabolism.
  2. Adult Patients:
    • Induction: 5 mg intravenous (IV) over 1 minute.
    • Maintenance: 2.5 mg IV over 15 seconds as needed (PRN), with at least 2 minutes between doses.
  3. ASA Physical Status III or IV:
    • Induction: 2.5–5 mg IV over 1 minute.
    • Maintenance: 1.25–2.5 mg IV over 15 seconds PRN, with at least 2 minutes between doses.
  4. No dosing adjustments are required for patients based on body mass index (BMI).
  5. The half-life of remimazolam is prolonged in cases of hepatic impairment.
